During the product creation and prototype testings, one of the things that keeps landing on our plates is the educational roll rats have in some classrooms such as the famed rat psychology used during classes. From what we have learned, the study is about how the rats typically choose the shortest routes to the food treats. Then when removing the shortest route, the rat will choose the next shortest route and so on. What does this prove? Perhaps spacial awareness, memory or olfactory? Our maze provides this test on several levels, literally. Now instead of showing, for example, 3 length pathways that the rat must decipher on one plane. Now the end user could use the multilevel aspect to study this spacial awareness in greater detail. Our kit is easily sanitized to remove the scent, or better yet, pieces moved with scent to other locations to prove that noses are also used.

Imagine instead of the old school hand made mazes that must be made from year to year by the end users who might not be so crafty, or that old one that might be soiled, dirty, hard to clean and storing away after the physiological study is always a pain in the back...

As stated each rat maze connects to any other critter maze product. The Critter Maze System was designed to be modular! For example, if 6 kits were put together, this would result in.

What the maze is also good at in addition to the typical square shaped mazes and multilevel capacities is the ability to make the T study, the study of the left and right turning habits of the rodent, with and without rewards. ( and yes, this can be done multi-leveled ) :)

In the works is a radial part that will allow the modular system so spread out in the lton and Samuelson styled spacial learning do hickey. In fact we have the part made in CAD and are just awaiting interest Untill then we will print the part on our rat maze 3d printer !.

Above is a great example of the T test. Not only can you now test the T in a simple, reusable, washable and store-able maze, you can also test the abilities of scent as well. Switch the sides around and see what happens...or Double, triple, etc stack them and see where the rat ends up!

During the construction of the product, creativity was the MAIN FOCUS of our developers. Going great lengths to give the end user the freedom to play, mix and match, and add on as much fun as they want. We are also incorporating other item designs soon, so that other pet toys can be utilized, to greater the effect of your own ingenuity.

The Radial Rat maze has come to Critter Mazes, While the triangle part is in prototype. It could be made with enough support from our fans! In the mean time please feel free to ask us how to make a radial maze without the triangles!! Just the standard maze piece in concentric lines and close the holes up so the rats will be secure. This radial can be made in as few as 3 kits for a running length of 21" each arm (3 bases each). The more kits you add the longer the arms can be! If there is a kit per arm then it would be approx 5 feet per arm (8 Kits).

Each kit packs away in a tidy 10x10" box. Can be sanitized and re assembled into either your radial maze or a maze containing as many kits as you purchase, or several small mazes.
